Madagascar Ariel

I think I’ve only ever made one, maybe two, other guitars using Madagascar Rosewood. Some of the timber offered to me is rather suspect in its origins and “chain of custody”, but I do have some that I bought years ago, and it does make a good guitar.

The customer had encouraged me to make my own decisions, and I soon decided that “red” was going to feature strongly. The soundboard is made of “Redwood”, and the first coats of lacquer brought out all the strong colours, so I continued the theme with thin red lines through the neck, and the fingerboard markers are very subtle tiny pearl dots. Once again, I am really pleased. I love working this way- somebody giving me money to make things that I want to make. It’s brilliant.
